Being a new teacher, my immune system is not as strong as I thought it was and so I have caught my first cold of the season. Colds are usually reserved for the winter months but due to weeks of triple digit temperatures, we have been kept inside. Friday - Sunday I was feeling pretty icky. Sunday night I tried to get a sub b/c I still felt awful but I wasn't set up yet in the "sub system". I wound up having to go to the school until they could get a sub for my room. Thankfully, I didn't have to wait long. 8:00 came around and a man poked his head in and said "Mrs. Whitlow?" And I horsly said "Are you the sub!!?" Got things together for him and headed home. If only this story stopped here.
On my way home, my front tire blew. It was completely shredded. It made this loud rumbling noise and the the car started slowing down. I pulled over and tried to change the tire but I couldn't get the lug nuts off. I called the police and Officer Sanchez of Franklin Police changed my tire on the side of the interstate. My car had been driving funny for a week but we didn't associate it w/ the tire. We won't make that mistake again. I drove home, took a nap and then went to wal-mart to get a new tire. You know, it wasn't a terrible ordeal - a little inconvenient but not the end of the world. I think a few months ago it would have sent us into a tizzy but not now. I think I've learned to relax a little and trust God a whole lot. :)
Today I feel a lot better but sound a lot worse. I had to call out again today because I cannot speak. It's hard to communicate w/ kindergarteners using sign language when neither parties know sign language!
Hopefully tomorrow will be back to normal.
