THE BACONATOR

Out of the blue, my lovely husband, emails me this message:

I went to Wendy’s for lunch today and they had a new sandwich. So I gave it whirl, and I have found a sandwich that is greater than all others………THE BACONATOR. I am not making this up. It has two patties, real cheddar cheese, and about a pound and a half of bacon. After I got it, I almost began to spontaneously sing God Bless America .

If you are like me and have never heard of this heart stopping sandwich. It's really called that and it really has 6 slices of bacon. It's also an 830 calorie sandwich !! (I looked it up on Wendy's website)

Couldn't you just imagine Brooks standing up on his desk at work singing God Bless America over a sandwich!!! He's so funny.

He really needs to learn to like vegetables.

God Speaks

As you know, I've been waiting on God for a teaching position. I really feel like He's been teaching me a lot through this situation. And as hard as it is at times, I love it that He loves me enough to take the time to teach me. There comes a real connection when you teach someone something they didn't understand before.

Anyways, Sunday before last, Pastor Marvin preached and it was about when the Israelites were waiting for Moses when he went up the mountain to speak with God. At first they were okay with it and as time when on, they became a little nervous and confused, then it turned into anger - "Moses, where are you?! When are you coming back?!" Finally, that turned into panic - "Moses has left us! We're in the desert alone!" In their panic, they disobeyed God and created an idol for themselves.

Pastor Marvin's question at the end of his sermon was this:
What do you do when you are in the midst of a "divine pause"? The answer?
Be still and know that I am God.
All you have to do is wait.
When nothing is happening, something is happening.

And again today, I feel like God was giving me another reminder. I read a devotional online and yesterday & today's were just what I needed. I would love for you to read them as well. They are just chopped full of so much encouragement and so many reminders. I hope that they encourage you as much as they did me.

If you're waiting on God, too, don't be discouraged, & don't give up. God is working.

My Hero

Thursday morning something terrible happened! On my way to work, I ran out of gas!!!!!!!!!! I didn't even make it to the next exit when my car started sputtering and pulling. I looked down at my gas hand and it was kissing the E. I was on empty! I had been on the interstate for about 10 minutes. I have NEVER run out of gas before. Never! I had been so busy the weeks before, I hadn't even thought of putting gas in my car!

I called Brooks, crying and let him know what had happened. He works in Lebanon which is an hour's drive. He assured me that it was okay and that he would pick up some gas and would come rescue me. "Just don't forget, it's going to take me an hour to get there."

What do you do on the side of the interstate for an hour? Well, I watched traffic come at me through my rear view mirror, noticed that the traffic really does come in waves or bunches, cried, observed that state troopers or cops wont necessarily help a stranded driver, talked to myself, talked to my mom on the phone, & listen to the radio. There's lots of fun things to do while waiting.

An hour later, after sitting in the hot car on the side of a busy interstate, Brooks came with the much needed gas. The minute he pulls up behind me, it starts raining!!! It hadn't been raining or even cloudy the whole time I was waiting on him. He's standing there putting gas in my car in the rain. I felt awful! As soon as my car is filled up and it's safe to start the car, we drive away, and it stops raining!!! Can you believe that!? It was some sort of tragic comedy!

I got to work an hour and a half later than expected and Brooks got an unexpected 2 hour break from his work!

I am so thankful for my white, shiny knight - with gas!!!
